Sod Replacement Special Pricing for February

Do you need sod replacement? If so, any time after February 15th is a great time to replace it. Here are just a few excellent reasons:

  1. Temperatures are warm enough to encourage quick establishment of your new turf while not so hot to cause extreme heat stress. This means less water! Less water used is more money in your pocket!
  2. Moderate temperatures also mean less evaporation. With less evaporation, more water gets to the root system of the new sod. This will allow your new sod to develop a deep root system which will give you grass that is more drought tolerant year round.
  3. Replacing your sod now, gives the sod the time to establish well before the height of pest season. A healthy, established lawn will have much more resistance to chinch bugs, sod webworms, fungus and other common summer pests.
  4. Best of all you can take advantage of our Special Prices on sod replacement that are available for the entire month of February.

St. Augustine Floratam:

Quantity Coverage Per Sq. ft. Cost
1-2 pallets 400 to 800 sq.ft. $.90 per sq. ft.
3-5 pallets 1200 to 2000 sq ft. $.80 per sq. ft.
6 or more pallets 400 sq. ft. per pallet $.70 per sq. ft.

Other types of sod are available. Give us a call for pricing. Some restrictions may apply. The services listed below are included in these prices. At JLC Outdoors we take extra steps to make sure your new sod has the best possible conditions for successful establishment and healthy growth.

On our initial visit our first step is to evaluate and discuss with you what type of sod best fits your lifestyle and your properties growing conditions. At this time we also do an initial run through on your irrigation system to ensure it is working properly and will advise you as to any repairs or adjustments that need to be made so as to make sure that your new sod receives proper irrigation coverage for proper root establishment.

Previous to starting the installation process we may visit your property again to spray a systemic, broad spectrum herbicide to kill any invasive weeds or grasses. After a few days to give the spray time to do its job, our crew will return to cut out the old sod from the area where your new lawn is to be placed. Prior to doing the cut out, we do another run through on your irrigation system to make any agreed upon repairs or adjustments, and also at this time we flag all your sprinkler heads so as not to damage them during cut out or cover them up when installing your new lawn.

Once the irrigation is taken care of, the area to be replaced is cut out and the old sod and debris is loaded for hauling away. We will hand rake the area for proper grading and, in the case of partial installs, make sure the new lawn matches the established lawn at the same level.

After your new lawn is installed we will make sure your irrigation timer is set on a watering schedule that will ensure the new lawn receives sufficient water to help it get established and will make a final inspection of the area. And, we will leave you a copy of our brochure, PROPER CARE OF NEWLY INSTALLED SOD,(click here to read), to help make your new lawn replacement a success.

JLC OUTDOORS GIVES FREE ESTIMATES AND WILL BE GLAD TO VISIT YOUR PROPERTY AND CONSULT WITH YOU ON YOUR SOD NEEDS. GIVE US A CALL AT 407-595-5818 or FILL OUT THE REQUEST A BID FORM AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE.

Italian Cypress

Of all the plants that we featured last year, both as specials and as a plant profile, the one that created the most attention and by far outpaced all the others in orlando lawn care sales was the Italian Cypress. Most of the sales were in multiples and discounts are available for 2 or more trees. This is such a versatile tree that we are going to start 2012 off with a reminder that we still have beautiful stock available in this tree, both in 15 gallon and 30 gallon sizes. Give our Orlando Lawn Maintenance Team a call at 407-595-5818 for current availability and pricing, or fill out the Request a Bid form at the bottom of this page.

Italian Cypress

The Italian Cypress trees give height to your foundation plantings without taking up a lot of room. Architects use them to frame entryways, cover vertical drain-pipes, soften corners and vertical edges and even as elegant property dividers. Planted three feet apart they can make a nice blind for your property. You can even plant them in large pots to frame your front entryway or to add elegance to your back patio or pool.

They grow almost everywhere… require little water, and can adapt to almost any soil type you may have. Unlike most evergreens, the Italian Cypress does not grow in a pyramidal fashion. These popular new trees grow in a narrow, columnar fashion, practically reaching straight up without ever growing very wide. When they reach the height you want, just cut the top.

These fast growers can shoot up to 2-3 ft. a year while giving you dense foliage, soft texture and symmetrical shape.

We have the Italian Cypress available this month in a 30 gal. (10’) size, (pictured). It is also available in a 15 gallon which is equally as nice in appearance.

New Sod or New Landscaping Exemptions;

Per County ordinance, residents are allowed to water new sod or new landscaping on any day at any time for the initial 30 days after installation, and then every other day for the next 30 days. Watering is limited to the amount necessary for the sod or landscape to become established. This exception applies only on those specific areas where the new sod/landscaping is located. Residents in some areas may need to supply their water company with their name, phone number, address, and any receipts for sod and/or landscape purchases to avoid getting a watering violation during sod/landscape establishment. Although exempt from watering violations during this time, residents are not exempt from the applicable water rates. Please keep in mind that an increase in watering will result in higher water bills.

*Please note:

This special price covers properties with up to eight (8) zones (stations). An extra charge will apply to properties with more than eight zones. Call for pricing.

This special covers only the services outlined above in red. In order to service as many properties as possible to comply with new fall and winter watering regulations we will not be doing any major repairs during these visits. We will leave you with an evaluation of your system and advise you of any repairs or amendments that need to be made. Asiatic Jasmine

Ground covers are an important part of any landscape design where energy efficiency and conservation is a consideration. With proper selection for specific areas, they can be very efficient in cutting down on heat build up and transference around the exterior of your home and therefore help reduce the amount of heat absorbed into your home.

Asian Jasmine in BedThere are some ground covers that do not need a lot of sun and will grow in shady areas of your yard where sod does not do well. Certain ground covers can be used on slopes to provide erosion control. They can be planted next to a driveway or walkway to provide a barrier or to discourage traffic patterns and will again help absorb heat from concrete or blacktop. And ground covers, if selected properly for the area, will use much less water than most turfs, once established.

One of the most popular ground covers that we install is Asian Jasmine. We usually plant Asian Jasmine in defined areas to establish large, shady beds, such as under large trees, although this plant tolerates sun just as well. It is a dense, fast growing ground cover with small oval leaves that are shiny. It prefers moist, well drained, well prepared soil for best establishment. Once established, it is fairly drought tolerant and requires very little in the way of maintenance as long as planted in a defined area. In most cases Asian Jasmine will climb only if trained to do so.

As a rule this plant is evergreen in our local climate. It grows to a height of 6 to 12 inches, spreads to 3 ft. plus and is very hardy in our grow zone. It is dense enough, once established, to discourage most weed growth, although some hand weeding may be required until established.

We can supply and install Asian Jasmine in a one (1) gallon size for $3.50 per plant with a minimum of 100 plants. There may be some additional charges if you do not have an established bed where plants are to be installed, or if extra top soil dressing needs to used prior to installation.

We are always available to visit your property and give you a set contract price for installing any plant material you may require for your landscaping needs. Just give us a call at 407-595-5818 or fill out the REQUEST A BID FORM at the top of this page.
